Come to the fair!

By roundabout ways, through the helter-skelter of life, despite the Aunt-Sallies and One Armed Bandits seeking to block and exploit us, despite garish lights and the deafening sounds and the constant movement of this life, we have found a centre for coming together and setting up our own stall to show and share our experience of, and relationship with, Someone who makes sense and purpose of it all. At our stall it is a fun-fair, as we enjoy to the full the acceptance of one another as God has accepted us. We share in the laughter of heaven already begun.

We are Plain-fare: just ordinary people, like you. We are seeking, or have chosen, imperfectly, the way that is the challenge of vulnerable love.

We are on a Thorough-fare: the journey of life is so much better when shared. We share it with each other and with our Lord, Jesus, who we find to be our constant companion, our guide and our goal. He is the key to it all.

We share Fine-fare: the best that we can be in doing those things that honour God, heal lives, serve others of all ages, sorts and conditions. Our thriving youth club, study and chat groups, meetings for women and for men, luncheon group and other shared social activities, has, as their focus , our coming together to say ‘Thank You’, ‘Forgive us’, ‘Feed us’, ‘Speak to us’, ‘Equip us’, ‘Use us’, and cheerfully and caringly to encourage one another. We do this with songs, silence and action.

We are engaged in War-fare: we believe that there a constant battle against the Enemy and the enemies that are of greed, selfishness, vanity, ignorance and lies – in fact anything which imprisons, diminishes and prevents fullness of life for individuals and community. This demands sacrifice, effort and cost. We acknowledge the greatest sacrifice in the greatest battle that was fought, culminating in the victory of the Cross and the amazing gift of new life.
